How to Get the Most Out of This Resource
Working with the Course Content
You have made the decision to build the foundation for your life together - or maybe you're doing more of a renovation after many years together.
No matter what brought you here, we want you to feel supported and respected to make decisions that will sustain and enhance your relationship.
The course content is divided into 5 parts:
- All About You (individually)
- All About You (plural - together!)
- Questions to Ponder (Focused on Finances and Life Choices)
- Information About Relationship Agreements
- How You Can Work With Your Professional Advisor(s)
Each section has a unique focus and you do not have to do them in order - but if you mix them up please go back and do the reflection exercises that are designed to help you with your design!
The content will be supplemented with printable or fillable hand-outs. We want you to be able to engage in your discussions however you wish.
For instance, if you're on a road trip, you will probably want to scroll through the content on your phone and have discussions "on the fly". You can return to the hand-outs to record your thoughts and ideas.
If you are prefer to put "pen to paper", then you will want to print the handouts and find your favourite writing tool.
And if you are a lover of all things digital - you can fill in the hand-outs electronically.
And if you two are a mix - you've got choices!
Vive la difference!
All the handouts are attached below, but you will also find them throughout the course content.
- Pulling it All Together lets you record your various ways of being and showing up - to yourself and each other.
- Things to Consider brings together the many questions you can think through before deciding what you need.
- How We Show Love and Support helps you understand your similarities and differences - and how sometimes love gets lost in translation.
- Trust in Workable Parts - helpful worksheet because trust is not an all or nothing thing.
A lot of the early content is for YOU - individually and then together. Share as much as you want with each other and when it comes time to work with your chosen advisor, you will be better able to identify your needs, hopes and concerns.
Your advisor does not need to know everything about YOU.
Share what you like. Keep the rest to yourselves.
Off you go!
